  1. Lol! I do use 'old style' a lot given my job. And I love writing. However, I must admit that apart from work, my writing has definitely decreased. I used to keep journals and diaries and there was a time when my creative writing could only be done on paper (the thoughts wouldn't flow on MS Word) but that's changed as well. Having said that, I still try and write down thoughts whenever I can. And I still use a proper diary for appointments, things to do etc (yes, I'm still old school) No PDAs or IPhones for me.

You are right though in your son probably needing a laptop...I work with kids and I have had 7 or 8 year olds tell me they have their own laptops! By 'own' they mean one their parents have bought and kept it exclusively for them in their rooms.

And to think...I bought my first laptop when I was almost 22...after saving up for months and months! Sigh.

  2. I wonder myself if handwriting will become obsolete. Dad and I grew up handwriting everything. I learned typing in high school so as to get a job at Kaiser Steel in Oakland when we were first married. But it would never have occurred to me to type everything in my everyday life.
Our computers are a convenience. How we use them to better our lives are up to us. Only time will tell.
Your notes are great and the subject is well said!
